Algeria, Politics, 1/23/1998

An Arab Inter-Parliamentary delegation arrived Algeria on Thursday led by the chairman of the Arab affairs committee at the Egyptian Parliament, Muhammad Jamal Edine, for a several-day visit to Algiers.

In a statement to press Jamal Edine said: "We have come to Algeria to voice solidarity with the Algerian people against attempts aimed at undermining this country thereby to have the pretext to interfere in its internal affairs."

He stressed support of the Arab Parliamentary Union for the role played by the Algerian people among world's peoples. During its visit, the delegation will meet with the chairman of the national people's council, the Prime Minister, chairman of the nation's council, the foreign minister and heads of parliamentary blocs.

The delegation comprises representatives of the parliaments of Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Yemen and Libya.
