Al-Majali: relations are good with Syria and Iraq
Jordan, Politics, 1/23/1998

Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul-Salam al-Majali was quoted by Radio Monte Carlo, Arabic Service as saying Jordan has always been close with Iraq and Jordan has continuously supported the Iraqi people.

Jordan asked for the UN sanctions imposed on Iraq after Saddam's forces invaded Kuwait in August 1990 to be lifted, Majali added.

Relations with Syria are good, Jordanian Prime Minister told reporters. "Our relations with Syria have been close, there has not been tension between us," he said.

Concerning Jordanian relations with Saudi Arabia, Majali highly appreciated them. Relations with Saudi Arabia are excellent, he told the reporter. "There have never been any difficulties between us and the Saudis," he added.

Regarding Jordanian Israeli relations, Majali said Jordan believed in peace; peace insured security. "We have signed a peace accord with Israel and we do respect it." he said.
