New administrative appointments in Morocco
Morocco, Politics, 1/20/1998

The Moroccan Monarch King Hassan II headed a ministerial meeting during where he approved a number of decrees that have to do with reorganizing diverse issues ranging from water use to cars by the government agencies and the responsibilities of some ministries.

During this meeting, the Moroccan Monarch appointed Abdel Fatah Bin Mansour as director of the Public Treasury, Abdel Salam Amirzon as director of Moroccan telecommunications in addition to his current position as minister of transportation.

The meeting came within the expectations over the naming of the Moroccan premier, who will be responsible for forming the upcoming government. There are expectations that this high government position will be entrusted to a personality from the opposition Socialist Federation, the Gathering of the Free, or the Technocrats who are on good terms with the political parties.

Meanwhile, party sources observed that the Independence Party continued its criticism of the upcoming government before it has been appointed, as the party criticized the legislative election that charted the political map and went on to question the feasibility of the system of rotation through which the opposition will take the government seats. The Socialist Federation, which is the ally of the Independence Party, kept silent towards the recent developments in anticipation of naming the Premier.

Diplomatic sources said a list of new Moroccan ambassadors to the Arab and Foreign countries will be ratified soon. The list include the Ambassadors to Lebanon, Canada, Switzerland, Argentina, And Kenya. Abdel Salam Baraka was nominated to Argentina, Abdel Kader Al Ashhab was nominated for the Canadian post, and Al Fass Al Kahry to Switzerland.
