Iran - Iraq improve bilateral relations

Iran and Iraq said there is strong political interest in improving, developing and normalizing comprehensively their bilateral relations. They agreed that cooperation between the two countries will positively reflect on security and stability in the region.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Said El-Sahaf finished a three-day official visit to Iran in which he met with Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi and President Said Mohamed Khatami.
El-Sahaf said his visit included talks with Iranian officials to discuss normalizing relations and solving outstanding problems. He also announced that a positive future lies ahead for bilateral and mutual friendship between the two countries.
