$225 million in aid from US to Jordan

US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, upon meeting her Jordanian counterpart Fayez al-Taraunah, told him that the US administration, appreciating Jordan's political stands and economic performance, had allotted $225 million out of the 1999 American general budget for Jordanian assistance.
The US budget will be submitted to the Congress on February 1. American officials expressed their satisfaction with an evaluation made by the International Monetary Fund regarding the economic situation in Jordan. Upon the conclusion of the meetings, the Jordanian delegation held talks with senior American officials in Washington, Dr. Fayez al-Taraunah told the Jordanian News Agency reporter.
"American officials highly appreciated the legal changes being made by the Jordanian government to achieve economic reform," he said.
