Yemen accuses Somali units of attacking a Yemeni island

Yemeni President Ali Abadalla Saleh renewed his call to turn a new page in the political arena in Yemen and called on all political parties and organizations in the government and the opposition to forget the past and concentrate on the future.

The speaker of the Shura (Counseling) Council, Abel Meguid Al Zendany, said the Yemeni island of Socotra was attacked during the last two weeks. He added that this attack aimed to surround Yemen from the Red Sea after Eritrea occupied the island of Henish.

Al Zandy elaborated that the coming seizure will occur through the occupation of Socotra. He did not name the country masterminding this attack, but informed sources confirmed to the ArabicNews.com that Somali units are the ones who carried out the attack.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Heir to the throne Prince Abdalla Abdel Aziz received a phone call from the Yemeni president in which bilateral relations between the two countries, security cooperation between the two countries, and Arab and international developments were discussed.
