Egypt: Arab tourists wooed with half price deal
Egypt-Regional, Business, 1/17/1998
The Egyptian Tourism Ministry put forward an urgent plan to refresh Arab and domestic tourism in Egypt by giving discounts of about 50% off the normal price on hotels, airplanes and trains.
Mamdouh el-Beltagi, the Egyptian tourism minister, said, "We will focus on the internal and Arab markets, as the new prices are very attractive and there is a strong emphasize on discounts."
While Luxor still suffers from tourist stagnation, winter resorts on the Red Sea have not been affected, as there are special trips from Europe directly to these resorts.
