Arab parliament to support Algeria against terrorism
Regional-Algeria, Politics, 1/16/1998

The Arab Parliamentary Union, headed by Dr. Fathi Serour, decided to hold a conference in Algeria soon to discuss terrorism and the massacres in Algeria.

The Union will meet before the European conference addressing this issue is convened. Serour said it's unfortunate that the Europeans could hold a conference on Algeria before the Arabs.

Abdel Megaid El-Sherif, the head of the Algerian parliamentary delegation to the Arab Parliamentary Union conference currently being held in Luxor, called for the Arab parliament's support for Algeria in confronting terrorism. He also stated that Algerian damages from the terrorist attacks are estimated at $2 billion.

The extraordinary conference of the Arab Parliamentary Union in Luxor appealed to related international and regional organizations, to put the confrontation of this issue at the top of their agendas.
