Kuwaiti members of parliament question the Minister of Information
Kuwait, Politics, 1/16/1998

Islamic members of the Kuwaiti parliament said they intend to submit a inquiry to Minister of Information Saud Naser Al Sabah as they believe that he is responsible for selling banned religious books in Kuwait.

The parliament member Mubarak Al Duwaila stated that another inquiry will be submitted after the Bairam to Minister of Finance Nasir al-Rawdan.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Saud declined to answer journalists' questions regarding criticism raised by members of parliament against him. He only mentioned that submitting an inquiry is a constitutional right that could be used against any minister and added that practicing this right requires wisdom and patience.

The crisis over the banned books began when the Ministry of Information approved the sale of 160 books which had previously been banned by the censorship department as they contained material that deals improperly with religion and ethics.
