Jordanian industrial delegation leaves for Baghdad
Jordan-Iraq, Economics, 1/16/1998

A Jordanian industrial delegation currently in Baghdad includes the chairman of the Amman Chamber of Industry and its members. The delegation is expected to hold talks with Iraqi officials in the Iraqi Chambers of Industry and Commerce.

The visit is aimed at strengthening economic and trade relations with Iraq and signing a major trade protocol.

"Since 1991, this is the 21st visit of our delegations to Iraq," said a source in Amman Chamber of Industry, adding that it hoped to lift the UN sanctions against Iraq. The sanctions were imposed on Iraq after Saddam's forces invaded Kuwait on August 2, 1990.

An official source expected that the trade agreement to be prepared would is more than $300 million, but the final figure depended on a meeting to be held between the Iraqi and Jordanian trade ministers.
