Eyptian information minister: visit for bilateral consultations

Syrian Information Minister Muhammad Salman on Wednesday discussed with his Egyptian counterpart Safwat al-Sharif bilateral relations between Syria and Egypt, especially cooperation in the field of information.
Meanwhile, al-Sharif has described relations between Syria and Egypt as excellent, noting the identical views and common stances linking the two countries.
In a statement to SANA, al-Sharif said that President Mubarak's visit to Damascus falls in the course of consultations which the two Presidents are very careful to maintain.
He added the visit comes amid sensitive conditions the Middle East region and described the peace process as vulnerable to a deadlock, a matter which needs consultation between the two leaders to become acquainted with the results of contacts taking place in the international arena.
He went on that the meeting between the two presidents is also necessitated by the persistent crisis in Iraq, and the crisis in Libya, as well as the consequences of the Turkish-Israeli maneuvers against the stability of the region, in addition to several Arab issues, so that they can draw common policies concerning these issues.
