Food assistance from Japan to Palestinian refugees

Japan will offer food assistance worth 800 million yens ($6.048 million) to Palestinian refugees. The assistance will be offered through the UN Relief and Works Agency. With this assistance, the total amount of Japanese donations to the Palestinians will reach $323 million.
The number of the Palestinian refugees is estimated at 3.4 million, living in Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria in addition to the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. They suffer from shortages in food and supplies due to the Israeli economic blockade.
