Egyptian - Armenian cultural ties
Egypt, Culture, 1/13/1998

Armenia's cultural minister arrived in Egypt last week for a week long visit during which he will hold talks with his Egyptian counterpart Farouk Hosni on cultural cooperation between the two countries, said the Armenian ambassador in Egypt.

The two ministers will explore the possibility of holding cultural fairs and exchanging visits between the two countries' folk troupes.

The Armenian official will meet the head of the higher council for youth and sport, Dr. A. Monem Emarah, to bolster sports cooperation.

The Armenian minister will attend the Armenian cultural festival running from January 11-17. The festival's opening ceremony, in which 62 Armenian performers will participate, will take place at the opera house. The Armenian troupes will stage performances in Luxor on January 15.

Holding the performance will reflect the Armenian condemnation of the recent terrorist attack in the city, Al-Jumhoria daily reported.
