Regional, Politics, 1/9/1998
Arab League Secretary-General Esmat Abdul Meguid has stressed Arab states' interest in strengthening and developing Euro-Arab cooperation in all fields and in eliminating all obstacles in this respect.
During his Thursday meeting with the ambassador of Malta in Cairo, Abdul Meguid said Euro-Arab partnership should expand to cover all Arab states and not to be confined to Mediterranean states. The two officials reviewed the situation in the region and means of boosting Arab -Maltese relations. Malta hosted the recent Euro-Mediterranean meeting of 1997.
Abdul Meguid also discussed with Chad's ambassador to Syria, Lebanon and Egypt, means of strengthening Arab relations with Chad in the framework of Arab interest in revitalizing Afro-Arab cooperation for common interests.
They reviewed Arab and African issues of mutual concern, including the Middle East peace process, Lockerbie, Somalia, and Comoros, SANA reported.
