Algerian - Moroccan relations show signs of improvement

In spite of tensions between Morocco and Algeria due to the western desert conflict, Morocco is showing sympathy over the massacres taking place in Algeria.

Moroccan television broadcast Monday night repored of the latest Algerian events, although Moroccan reports normally avoid mentioning anything that happens in Algeria.

Moroccan newspapers also mentioned the international measures to deal with the massacres, especially the idea of establishing a committee to determine responsibility for these brutal massacres, which Algeria has rejected in the past, but is in the process of reevaluating.

Algerian and Moroccan families with relatives in the opposite country, were allowed travel in spite of the closed borders between the two countries that has been in effect since the summer of 1994.
