Israel's oppressive practices mount in south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 1/6/1998

Reports from south Lebanon said the aggressive Israeli practices are still ongoing against the people of the besieged city of Shabaa, as its inhabitants are prevented from leaving.

Firing at houses also continues during day and night, and Lahd militia-men have deliberately questioned the people of Shabaa and directed insults at them.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces bombarded with artillery a number of areas adjacent to the occupied strip of south Lebanon. A citizen from Majdal Zuon town was wounded and several houses were hit. Lebanese security sources said Israeli artillery shelling targeted the towns of al-Mansoun, al-Sayyad and al-Aziyya. The shelling was accompanied with heavy machine gun fire in the surroundings of these districts.

Security sources said more than 35 artillery shells were dropped in the targeted district. Well-informed sources considered the Israeli occupation forces' shelling against the housing quarters in Majdal Zoun in a new violation of April Understanding.

A Lebanese National Resistance group attacked on Monday morning with heavy machine gun fire and rockets the Israeli occupation position in the hill of al-Radar in the occupied strip of south Lebanon. The offensive demolished the position's main fortifications.
