Norway, Jordan hold Israel responsible for peace stalemate
Jordan, Politics, 1/6/1998
Norway's foreign minister, Kurt Vollebaek, on Monday stated that Israeli practices obstruct the peace process in the region.
In a statement he made in Amman on Monday following his meeting with Jordan's Prime Minister Abdul Salam al-Majali, the Norwegian foreign minister added that these Israeli practices might cause further problems in the peace process, in remarks addressing Israeli redeployment in the West Bank.
For his part al-Majali held Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for the faltering peace process. The Jordanian Premier called upon the Israelis to take practical measures to achieve genuine peace, noting that European positions concerning peace in the region to a large extent comply with Arab positions.
