Egyptian export volume increased
Egypt, Economics, 1/5/1998
Egyptian Minister of Trade and Supply Ahmed Goweili said that there was a 6.7 increase worth L.E. 614.6 million in the total value of Egyptian exports, which reached L.E. 9,794 million in the period between January and September 1997 compared to L.E. 9,180.1 million during the same period in 1996.
Goweili stated that this increase came as a result of opening new markets to Egyptian exports. Egyptian exports to Asian countries increased by about 38.8% while exports to the South American countries increased by about 93% compared to last year's figures.
It was also found that Egyptian cotton exports were worth L.E. 329.42 million compared to L.E. 267.67 million during the same period last year, an increase of L.E.61.68 million or 23%.
