Campaign combats drug cultivation

A week-long campaign to combat the cultivation of narcotics in Sinai led to the destruction of 75 feddans of cannabis and bungee in Sinai.
The campaign conducted by the ministry of interior's anti-narcotics department in cooperation with the border police also resulted in seizing over 100 kg of bungee in the Firan area in Sinai.
The campaign also led to the seizure of quantities of up to 1,027,200 cannabis saplings in 68 feddans along with 97,500 poppy saplings planted in 6.5 feddans as well as 105 kilos of dry bungee.
The successful campaign is part of a comprehensive plan instituted by Egyptian Minister of Interior Gen Habib Adli, Al-Wafd daily said.
