Support for Lebanese detainees in Israeli jails
Lebanon, Politics, 12/30/1997
The follow-up committee in charge of supporting the issue of Lebanese detainees in Israeli jails has described the detention of 12 Lebanese citizens from the occupied town of Shabaa by occupation forces as a violation of the international conventions which ban harming civilians in occupied areas.
In a statement, the committee said it had sent a memorandum to Amnesty International including the names of the detainees from Shabaa. The statements demanded efforts for lifting the embargo on the town and to free the detainees.
However, the siege imposed on Shabaa is in its 2nd week as Israeli occupation forces built fixed barricades at the entrances of the town to prevent the supply of medicines and foodstuffs to the citizens.
