US fighter planes to UAE in near future

The UAE is expected to buy 80 fighter planes, most likely F-16's. Sources in the UAE expect that those planes will be bought from the US.
The UAE bought last week 30 modern Mirage 2000/9 war planes to modernize the UAE air forces. UAE chief of staff Colonel Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan said that the mirage deal will not make the UAE change its intention to buy 80 new fighter planes, as all those deals are needed to modernize the air forces.
Al Nahyan added that the door is still open for negotiations in this deal, confirming that the US F-16 is excellent though he expected strong European competition.
