Egyptians united in denouncing Luxor attack

Participants in the third Islamic - Christian conference held in Port Said expressed outrage at the Luxor attack and denounced its perpetrators.
They stated that all Egyptians, both Muslims and Christians are united against the dangers threatening their country.
A session was held last week under the title "Egyptian Awareness of the Age" it was attended by the Port-Said government, a representatives of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Pope Shenouda III, the Ministry of Waqfs and the Mufti in addition to large number of Muslims and Christians.
The conference, organized by the Anglican Coptic (Egyptian Christians) Authority for social services, stressed the Egyptian people's determination to promote national unity.
It also called for confronting all forms of extremism, Al-Ahrar daily said.
Meanwhile, laymen, religious figures and officials alike have said that Islam denounces terrorism and violence, stressing that Islam always calls for peace and tolerance.
The Mufti of Australia and New Zealand, Sheikh Tageddin El-Hilali, joined the world condemnation against the Luxor attack.
Speaking to a seminar held last week at Southern Valley University in Qena, he said that the attack "was not only a stab at the tourism industry, but a stab in the hearts of all Egyptians"
"There is a conspiracy being prepared against Egypt to hit the beating heart of the Arab and Muslim world. The terrorists seek to introduce sectarian conflict and civil war to Egypt," he continued.
He said however, that the Egyptian political leadership, religious leaders and young people would close ranks to defeat such a conspiracy, Al-Ahrar daily said.
