Peres: Rabin committed himself to full withdrawal from the Golan
Syria-Israel, Politics, 12/26/1997
Former Israeli Premier Shimon Peres stated that former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzak Rabin showed readiness to fully withdraw from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights and that the former Israeli Premier was about to reach a peace settlement with Syria.
In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai' issued yesterday, Peres added that he prefers a Syrian-Lebanese, Israeli solution, saying that a peace treaty would solve all problems; especially those relating to security of the borders, claiming that Israel has no intentions on keeping the Golan Heights nor South Lebanon.
Peres said, referring to Netanyahu, that in order to safeguard the peace process, "We can not ask others to implement their obligations without "you" do the same thing."
