Jordan-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 12/26/1997
Jordanian Foreign Minister Fayez Al Tarawna will head to Saudi Arabia tomorrow to deliver a message from Jordan's King Hussein to the Custodian of the Two Holy Shrines King Fahd Bin Abdel Aziz.
The message will tackle the relations between the two countries and the changes that the region is witnessing, especially in regard to Iraq and the peace process in the Middle East.
During the two-day visit, Al Tarawna will try to win approval to resume pumping Saudi oil to Jordan. He will meet with King Fahd and the apparent heir to the Saudi throne, Prince Abdalla Bin Abdel Aziz.
The Jordanian Ambassador in Saudi Arabia, Ma'any Khalifa, stated that this visit will focus on discussing a number of issues of mutual interest.
Al Tarawna will also meet with Saudi Foreign Minister Saud Al Faisal, with whom he will discuss expanding fields of cooperation between the two countries and means of boosting bilateral relations. Al Tarawna will also try to put into force two agreements that have to do with Jordanian manpower and teachers.
Jordan has expressed concern over its supply of oil that is receives from Iraq, as relations between the two countries soured over a crisis caused by Iraqi execution of four Jordanians accused of smuggling.
