Hamas: New security agreement resembles war on Palestinians
Palestine-Israel, International, 12/25/1997
Hamas, the Islamic resistance movement, announced its rejection of the new security agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Considering it as launching a war on Palestinians, on the Palestinian popular resistance and on Palestine's security priorities. The movement demanded in the statement "to stop this agreement.. that never helps our people.. and not to hold more agreement that achieve benefits to Zionists."
The Palestinian government threatened to apply the division plan of 1947 (which greatly expands current Palestinian boundary areas) if the Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu insists on considering the West Bank a part of Israel.
Tayyeb Abdul Raheem, secretary general of the Palestinian president's office said that in such a case, the Palestinian Liberation Organization will demand the 1947 division plan be implemented, and will call for application of United Nations resolution No 181, issued on November 1947.
