Hizbullah bomb attack wounds three Israelis

An Israeli army officer and two soldiers were wounded Tuesday when a roadside bomb was detonated by Lebanese guerrillas in Israeli-occupied south Lebanon, security sources said.

The sources said the explosion went off as an Israeli armored patrol was traveling on the Sojod-Rihan road on the edge of the Israeli-occupied border zone.

The Hizbullah guerrilla group claimed responsibility for the attack in the early morning hours, saying its fighters detonated the bomb, killing or wounding all members of the Israeli patrol.

A Hizbullah statement said the cries of the wounded Israeli soldiers could be heard by the attackers.

An Israeli army spokesman in Jerusalem confirmed that an Israeli officer and two soldiers were wounded in the attack, and that they were being treated in Israel.

Hizbullah also launched at least five attacks against outposts belong to Israeli troops and their allies from the South Lebanon Army.

Israeli and SLA troops shelled Iqlim al-Tuffah, an area facing the occupied zone from which Hizbullah guerrillas often launch their attacks. There were no casualties from the retaliatory fire. The Israeli morning shelling covered al-Nabatieh and al-Zaffata towns, the woods of Sujud and Rayhan Eqmata farm, the outskirts of Arab Salim, and Homin al-Fouka road.

The Lebanese resistance also announced that it attacked two Israeli occupation positions in Dabsheh and Sweidaa area, adding the attack on Dabsheh area targeted Israeli military moves inside and surrounding the position.
