Phosphate company raises ammonium prices

Jordan's agricultural sector has been facing a problem presented by a rise in ammonium prices instituted by the Phosphate company. Prices were raised by 70% to reach US $240 per ton.
The resolution resulted in angry reactions from the farmers.They said it will have a strong affect on agricultural activity in Jordan.
It is the most serious challenge facing Jordanian agriculture following the raise of accumulated prices of irrigation water, Al-Dustur newspaper wrote.
Some farmers in Jordan Valley decided to boycott use of this fertilizer until the company retracts its resolution, the newspaper added.
