Yemeni lawyers withdraw from defending vandalism suspects

The two lawyers, Ahmed Al Abiad and Badr Basanid, who are members of the defense team for the accused in a vandalism case withdrew from the hearing session at the court of Aden in protest over trial procedures.
The two lawyers said that the prosecutor did not allow them to meet with the defendants and that the procedures fall short of many international criteria for trials in addition to the fact that the two defendants had no chance to give their statements.
The Judge Fahim Abdalla heard the statements of the second defendant, a Yemeni businessman, in which he denied the accusations raised against him.
A Yemeni source informed ArabicNews.com that copies of the video cassettes containing the confessions of the first defendant Nabil Nakly were released and that some of the foreign embassies in Sanaa receiving them.
