Belarus, Syria exchange products
Syria, Agriculture, 12/18/1997
As a part of an economic and commercial agreement recently signed by the two countries, Belarus is to import ginned cotton and wheat through barter with Syria.
Syrian officials said that two million of Syria's annual production of over 4 million tons of wheat will be exported, while the other two million tons are consumed locally.
The officials added that after 1997's record harvest hit one million tons of raw cotton, Syria would export over 250,000 tons of ginned cotton to international markets.
The Syrian offer to Belarus also included the export of some 2.6 million tons of Syrian phosphate.
