Arab - Israeli MP's receive death threats

Arab members of the Israeli parliament said they have received death threats from Jewish extremists and accused Israeli officials and police of racism and ignoring the threats.

"I and a member of Arab parliament members have received threats from a group called the 'Front for a Solely Jewish land' demanding that we leave the country and saying this was our last warning," MP Abdul Wahab Darawsheh told reporters.

Darwsheh said he had received three written notices over the past there weeks, as well as anonymous phone calls to his home and office which included threats to kill him.

His fellow Arab MP Abdel Malik Dahamsheh said he received notes from the same group, "They wrote, this land is for Jews and there is no room for you, then said the time for executing death sentences was near," he told a Palestinian reporter.

Three more of the nine Arabs in the Israeli parliament, or Knesset, have received similar threats, Darwsheh said.
