Turkish general staff chairman arrives in Cairo today
Egypt, Military, 12/15/1997

Turkish general staff chairman General Ismail Haki Koradai arrives Monday in Cairo on a visit to Egypt at the invitation of his Egyptian counterpart, General Magdi Hatata.

Talks between the two sides will address enhancing the military relationship between the two countries. The Turkish general will also meet with high military officials in Egypt and visit Egyptian military establishments.

This visit comes within an exchange of visits between the two countries in the military field. General Hatata had visited Turkey during last July.

This visit comes after the Islamic Summit -- which criticized the military relations between Turkey and Israel.

The summit's final statement also included criticism for all relationships between Islamic countries and Israel.

Egypt has refused any military alliance that threatens to endanger the area.
