Yemeni president visits Oman today
Yemen-Oman, Politics, 12/15/1997
Yemeni President Ali Abdallah Saleh arrives Monday in Oman for an official visit to hold talks with Sultan Qaboos Bin Said on enhancing joint corporations in all fields.
The talks are expected to include a Yemeni request to join the Gulf Cooperation Council, especially since the visit comes on the eve of a GCC summit in Kuwait in which Sultan Qaboos is to participate.
The relationship between the two countries has made remarkable advances since they succeeded in specifying the joint borders between them according to an agreement signed in 1992 which was presented at the United Nations and the Arab League.
The two countries signed an agreement to establish a road linking them. A joint Yemeni - Omani committee was created to discuss cooperation aspects in different fields, especially in fishery and oil.
