Assad meets Arafat, Hrawi, and other Arab leaders

President Hafez Assad discussed with Palsetinian President Yasser Arafat and chairman of the PLO political department Farouk al-Qaddoumi the deliberations of the Tehran Islamic Summit, the topics listed on its agenda, and the current state of the peace process.
Earlier in the day, the Syrian President met Lebanese President Elias Hrawi, Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and Foreign Minister Fares Boueiz. Talks dealt with issues listed on the conference's agenda, and the ongoing Arab and Islamic efforts to confront the Israeli stances hostile to Arab and Moslem rights, international legitimacy and the peace principles which aim to establish a just and comprehensive peace.
President Al Assad also discussed with Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah topics debated by the 8th Islamic Summit Conference as well as the positive climate dominating deliberations, and the good results reached until now. Talks tackled conditions and developments in the region as well as steps taken for consolidating the Arab stand in the face of the present Israeli government policy which is hostile to Arabs and their rights.
A similar meeting was also held between the Syrian President and Sudan's President Omar Hassan al Bashir.
