18 countries agree to establish Arab commercial zone
Regional, Economics, 12/10/1997
18 countries agreed on establishing an Arab commercial zone next January through the enforcement and follow-up committees meetings in the Arab League.
Dr. Moatasem Rashid, the manger director of commerce and investment in the Arab League, stated that all countries signed on facilitating the commercial exchange treaty among Arab countries, showed enthusiasm in enforcing the treaty's provisions and reducing taxes and customs fees.
Rashid said that so far no objections have been made by any Arab country about the source of certification for the Arab goods or the descriptive measures for goods. He also agreed on postponing the implementation of customs exemptions for goods produced in free zones in the Arab countries until the committee begins its studies.
