Morocco allocates 3 billion for fishing sector
Morocco, Economics, 12/10/1997

Morocco decided to allocate 3.56 billion dirhams to revive and develop its fishing sector in the southern areas. 2.05 billion of this sum will be spent on setting up ports, 500 million dirhams will be spent on building fishing ships, while 100 million dirhams will be spent on developing the fishing industries.

Sources in the Moroccan Ministry of the Fishing Industry said that the program aims to increase the competitive abilities of the fishing industry through providing the sector with the necessary equipment. The oil and fish industries are among the most important rising industries due to the appearance of new markets in the Asian countries.

Morocco exerts great efforts to develop its fishing industries because these industries will help revive the southern provinces and enhance Morocco's economic position in the field.
