Syrian - Chinese cooperation relations reviewed
Syria, Politics, 12/9/1997

The speaker of the Syrian people's assembly, Abdul Qader Qaddoura, discussed with chairman of foreign relations committee at the Chinese parliament conditions in the region, bilateral relations between Syria and China and means of boosting parliamentary relations between the two countries.

The Chinese official voiced his country's support for Syria's foreign policy. China backs Syria's stand concerning the peace process on the basis of international legitimacy, the land for peace principle and the restoration of the whole Golan to Syria, he said. He continued, saying the current Israeli government should stick to what had been agreed upon by the former government and to resume talks from the point they stopped at.

In another meeting with director of the Damascus UNICEF bureau, Mrs Nahed Qanawati, he discussed childhood charter and the constructive cooperation between UNICEF and the Syrian childhood national committee.
