Egypt, History, 12/8/1997
The Egyptian Archeological Higher Council (EAHC) finished the restoration works of the archeological sites on the Pyramid Plateau. The Egyptian Minister of Culture decided to open the plateau for visitors at the beginning of next year.
The secretary general of the EAHC declared that the completion of the new sites is concurrent with finishing the restoration works of the sphinx which are nearly done.
The director of the Giza Tourist Sites, Zahy Hawas, inaugurated the new sites which include 6 tourist tombs to be opened for the first time on the road to the Pyramids. The other 4 tombs are located west of the Pyramids, those tombs belong to Queen Hoteb Hert, Queen Merit Eit Af, and Queen Henosten.
Hawas added that the ventilation works of the third Pyramid are over and the dampness problem which badly affected the Pyramid was treated as well.
