Three civilians killed in south Lebanon
Lebanon, Military, 12/6/1997
Three civilians were killed and another wounded on Friday in roadside bomb explosions on the edge of the Israeli-occupied zone in south Lebanon.
Lebanese officials blamed Israel for the bombs and said they would lodge a complaint with a five-nation cease-fire monitoring committee.
The first explosion killed Mohammed al-Ma'az, a shepherd. Hassan Aladdine and Kassem Ma'az died in the explosion of two other bombs as they were trying to recover the shepherd's body. Another civilian, Rafik Zahwa, was wounded and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Roadside bombs are frequently used by both Israeli troops and Lebanese guerrillas who are fighting to drive them out of south Lebanon.
