Morocco slams Spain's decision to attach the two occupied cities to EU
Morocco, Politics, 12/6/1997
Diplomatic sources in Morocco confirmed that it is expected that the decision declared by Spanish Foreign Minister Ebil Matutis regarding attaching the two cities of Sebta and Milila north of the Atlantic Ocean will lead to severe reactions in Rabat.
Sources added that Morocco had previously refused a plan to attach the two cities to the European Union. Morocco had also refused the Spanish domination over the two cities. The source said the procedures which Spain intends to apply in the two cities are null and void, whether those have to do with granting the right of the self rule or with attaching the two cities to Europe.
Morocco considers those procedures contradictory with the Cooperation Treaty signed by the two countries and the good relations desired by both sides.
