No Egyptian mediation to restore Lebanese relations with Iraq
Lebanon, Politics, 12/6/1997

Lebanese Foreign Minister Fares Boueiz refuted the news that there has been Egyptian mediation to restore the Lebanese - Iraqi relations that had been severed 4 years ago. He clarified that restoring official relations should be preceded by restoring the natural and popular relations. He added that economic exchange between the two counties comes within recent UN resolutions.

On the other hand, he described the Islamic Summit due to be held in Tehran as one of the major summits, as it addresses the need of Islamic countries to meet and design defense plans amidst a world of chaos. Boueiz is participating in the ministerial meetings of the summit.

The Lebanese Foreign Minister said that changing internal debts into external debts will put Lebanon against international economic forces. He supported the reducing the expenditures.
