Moroccan Independence Party confirms end of its crisis
Morocco, Politics, 12/5/1997
The complaint sent by the deputy secretary general of the Moroccan Independence party, Mohamed Al Dewery, to the leaders of the party headed by Mohamed Buseta took on new dimensions.
Sources in the party confirmed that the crisis was contained after a discussion that led to the withdrawal of the complaint. An agreement was reached on the mechanism of work in the future.
Members in the party pointed out that the complaint showed that the party has reached a phase of self criticism which necessitates holding a convention to study the party's internal workings, coordinate work with the allies of the party in the opposition, and study the reasons for the failure of some party candidates in the recent election.
Neutral circles believed that the party leaders' discussion addressing the circumstances of the recent election aims to ease the resentment of party members who cannot accept the clear failure of their party in the election.
Sources in the Independence Party said that Dewery's message addressed some of the party's laws, especially those related to taking votes to reach decisions in the party's executive committee.
