Spanish ambassador: Lebanese resistance legitimate
Lebanon, Politics, 12/5/1997
The Spanish ambassador to Lebanon has visited Qana in South Lebanon, where he laid a wreath on the martyrs' monument.
"I came here in my first visit to the South to prove that the people and government of Spain are against inhuman acts. Regrettably only innocent people die in wars," the ambassador said.
He added that Spain and Europe demand the implementation of UN resolution 425 and Israel's withdrawal from the occupied zone in south Lebanon, stating "I'll convey what I see to my country and view any act claiming civilians as a terrorist action."
Replying to a question concerning Lebanese resistance, the Spanish ambassador said: "The Lebanese resistance carries out its legitimate right to liberate its lands."
