Saudi - Yemeni relations at zero point
Yemen-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 12/5/1997
Hopes pinned on settling border disputes between Saudi Arabia and Yemen have collapsed when Sanaa announced its disappointment over the results of the recent negotiations held in Riyadh amidst accusations targeting Saudi intelligence in carrying out a series of explosions in Aden, assassination attempts claiming the Life of Yemenis, and interference in trials taking place in Sanaa for former southern Yemeni officials.
A Yemeni source close to the government said that Yemen and Saudi Arabia have failed to conclude an agreement concerning border demarcation which the two sides have been debating since 1995.
The source, which asked not to be identified, said that talks held last Sunday in Riyadh by Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdul Karim al-Eryani were "disappointing" and reflected a failure in the attempt to advance negotiations between the two countries toward a durable solution to the border dispute.
