Russia's Posuvalyuk in Syria on a regional trip

Syria's foreign minister discussed with Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Viktor Posuvalyuk conditions in the region and peace process.

The Russian envoy stressed his country's close cooperation with the European Union and the US as well as concerned sides in the region to give the peace process a push forward.

In his meeting with Jordanian Crown Prince Hassan, Posuvalyuk spoke about results of his visit to Israel and Palestine in light of the recent Israeli proposal concerning redeployment in the West Bank.

On Friday morning Posuvalyuk arrived Lebanon from Damascus. He will meet Lebanese Premier Rafik Hariri and the secretary of Hizbullah, Hassan Nasrallah.

Diplomatic sources in Lebanon said the Russian official visit concentrates on three main topics: to brief the Lebanese on the achievement of the Russian initiative reducing tension between Iraq and the US, to exchange viewpoints in light of his talks in Damascus and Israel, and his attempt to mediate the exchange of the remains of Israeli soldiers who were killed in south Lebanon for Lebanese detainees in the Israeli concentration camps.
