Guardian: Israel practices state terrorism
Israel, Politics, 12/5/1997
The British daily the Guardian stated that Israel practices state terrorism, thereby violating UN resolutions.
The Kuwaiti daily Aseyassah quoted the paper as saying there is no state in the world that has ever shown such violations of UN resolutions as Israel in ignoring the International Declaration on Human Rights which states the right of every repatriate to come back home.
Yet, the paper said, Israel denies the rights of one million Palestinians expelled from their country in 1948 to come back home and ignores UN resolution 242 which demands its withdrawal from the Arab territories it has occupied since June 1967.
The paper noted that the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982 destroyed Lebanese towns and villages and killed some 20,000 Lebanese civilians. In 1996 Israel bombarded the UN headquarters in the Lebanese town of Qana where hundreds of Lebanese who sought haven were killed or wounded. And again Israel ignored the UN resolutions and international condemnation of this inhuman act.
The paper proceeded to say that until now Israel has violated 33 undertakings agreed upon with the Palestinian side. As for nuclear weapons, the only man who warned the West against the Israeli nuclear power was the Israeli Mordechai Vanunu, who was cheated and taken secretly to Israel where he is now spending 18 years in jail, just because he told the truth.
