Egypt will seek extradition of Islamic militants
Egypt, International, 12/4/1997
Sources in Cairo said that the Egyptian security body has begun to prepare reports on the Islamic militants who live abroad in preparation for diplomatic and political moves to win deportation of those Islamic militants from their host countries.
The sources added that the reports will include a list of charges against those Islamic militants and evidence against them as well as a list of other countries which have in the past extradited Egyptian extremists to Egypt in hopes of convincing the countries that it is not an unprecedented act to extradite the Islamic militants to Egypt.
The sources stated that Britain tops the countries hosting Egyptian Islamic militants who were sentenced by Egyptian courts and are wanted by security forces. Three of those Islamic militants were sentenced to death in absentia: lawyer Adel Abdel Meguid Abdel Barry who runs the International Office for the Defense of the Egyptian People in London, Yaser Tawfik who runs the Egyptian Information Watching Center in London, and Ibrahim Al Nagar who was sentenced to death in the case of Khan Al Khalili whose hearing sessions ended last month.
The sources added that the Egyptian reports will include the names of other Islamic militants living in Britain, including the lawyer Hany Al Sebaay, who runs the information activities of the Jihad (Holy Struggle) Group.
Among the countries that will be contacted is Austria, in which Adel Abdel Kodous lives. He was sentenced to death in absentia for attempting to assassinate the former Egyptian Premier Atef Sedki.
