Judge inspects complaints against legislative election in Morocco
Morocco, Politics, 12/4/1997

The Moroccan Election Committee decided to commission Judge Al Sayed Ahmed Al Serag to inspect the complaints submitted against the recent legislative election. The judge will work with a committee that will be responsible for inspecting the complaints dealing with election centers in Casablanca, Fass, Al Soebra, and Khribka.

Committee sources said that during its recent meeting, the election committee studied reports submitted by fact-finding committees on election disputes between competing parties. There have been some accusations of government intervention in the election.

Minister of Interior Idris Al Basri informed the election committee that the government is ready to apply the strictest procedures against anyone who is proved guilty of breaking the Charter of Honor signed by all the parties and the authorities to protect the election from tampering. The minister of interior was quoted as saying that judicial measures are available to deal with those who intervened in the election.

Meanwhile, preparations for the Council of Advisors ( the Second Chamber of Parliament) are underway, as the election will be held tomorrow. Meetings will be held for the candidates, voters, judges, governors, public attorneys to inform them of the measures against those who use money to affect the constituency and advise them against other violations.
