Military cooperation between Morocco and China

The heir to the Moroccan throne, Prince Sidi Mohamed, met with Chinese military officials in the Military Command Headquarters in Rabat. The Chinese delegation was headed by the Political Representative of the military area of Lanzo, General Zon Grin.
The two sides exchanged views on military cooperation and the possibility that Morocco can acquire military equipment from China designed for protecting the borders, especially as the Chinese delegation includes experts in protecting the borders.
The two sides exchanged views on each other's expertise in this concern especially as the Moroccan forces had set up a very developed barrier to protect Morocco from the Saharan provinces. This barrier took years to build and European and African expertise was utilized in setting it up.
The barrier prevented many attacks by the Polisario before the cease fire was put to force in 1991 in accordance with a UN-brokered plan to hold a referendum on the Western Sahara's independence.
