Europe to play a key role in peace process

"I assured Prime Minister Hariri that Europe will play a bigger role in the peace process;" the European Union's special envoy to the Middle East, Miguel Moratinos said following his meeting with the Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri, adding that Europe could exert political, economic and social influence.
"Now we have reached the conviction that there is a demand by all the parties for a stronger presence for the European role," Moratinos commented. In addition to the peace process Moratinos was due to have discussed preparations for the European summit to be held in Luxembourg on December 13 and 14.
