40% of UAE bank employees to be nationals

The Ministry of Economy in the UAE decided to require all the national and foreign banks in its territories to employ at least 40% of their workers from among UAE citizens. This step was taken in an attempt to decrease reliance on Asian manpower in the UAE. Asian employees in the banking field in the UAE represent 57% of the total employees.
The UAE expects the number of its citizens working in the banking field to reach between 40 to 50% of the total banking employees. Statistics showed that there are 1,076 UAE undergraduates in their final year and that the UAE citizens who joined the banking field during the current year were 38.
